In this book, educational psychologist Diane Gillespie, PhD, uses her knowledge and understanding of stories to craft sleep scenarios designed to help people fall back to sleep in the middle of the night.
Your approach to insomnia is absolutely brilliant and so unique.
Diane had trouble with sleep and noticed that her women friends were too. When she read about the importance of sleep and the dangers of sleep medications, Diane decided to develop a type of cognitive behavior therapy: the sleep story. Diane self-published the book Stories for Getting Back to Sleepand since it is a fund-raiser started marketing it herself.
The stories are set in relaxing places conducive to sleep: a cozy mountain cabin, luxurious spas, a tropical beach, a Brazilian hammock. In each story, the character secures her surroundings. Then through the process of attending to peaceful details in the setting, she relaxes her body, lets worries float away and sinks deeper into stillness--until she is sound asleep.
